Position Summary
The Maine RFW Statewide Director and Business Advisor provides strategic leadership, statewide coordination, and direct implementation oversight for the Maine Recovery Friendly Workplace Program. This position is responsible for developing and executing the statewide RFW model, expanding employer engagement, strengthening partnerships, and ensuring program alignment with state contract requirements.
This role serves as the face and voice of Maine’s RFW initiative and works in close collaboration with the State of Maine, Portland Recovery Community Center (PRCC), business leaders, workforce development partners, and recovery community organizations. The Director combines high-level strategic leadership with hands-on business outreach and employer engagement.
This position reports to the Executive Director of Pinetree Institute.
Key Responsibilities
Strategic Leadership & Program Oversight
- Develop, implement, and adjust the statewide RFW strategic plan in collaboration with key stakeholders.
- Ensure alignment of RFW implementation with statewide goals and contractual requirements.
- Prepare and submit reports required under the Maine RFW contract.
- Collect and analyze data to assess program impact and progress toward goals.
Employer Outreach & Engagement
- Lead statewide outreach and onboarding of prospective Recovery Friendly Workplaces.
- Provide guidance, consultation, and training to employers throughout their RFW journey.
- Develop and deliver orientation presentations and trainings for business leaders and HR professionals.
Partnership Development
- Establish and maintain partnerships with State of Maine agencies, PRCC, peer recovery community centers, chambers of commerce, workforce development entities, and re-entry partners.
- Build and sustain a statewide community of practice supporting Recovery Friendly Workplaces.
Public Leadership & Coalition Facilitation
- Serve as the public representative and spokesperson for the Maine RFW initiative.
Lead coalition meetings of members, partners, and stakeholders. - Facilitate trainings, meetings, and strategic conversations across diverse audiences.
Required Qualifications
- Bachelor’s degree or equivalent experience.
- 5+ years of professional experience in business leadership, workforce development, or human resources.
- Strong understanding of workforce systems and employer engagement strategies.
- Highly networked within Maine’s recovery and workforce development communities.
- Strong business acumen and project management experience.
- Excellent verbal and written communication skills.
- Skilled group facilitator and public presenter.
- Ability to manage multiple priorities and deadlines.
- High integrity and commitment to diversity.
- Proficiency in Microsoft Office and Google Suite.
- Valid Maine driver’s license and reliable transportation.
- Lived experience strongly preferred.
Employment Details
- Full-time salaried position
- Work location: Remote
- Salary range: $70,000–$75,000 annually, commensurate with experience.
